When should you convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is great for screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often several times larger than they need to be. JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photographs, so the same picture usually takes up much less space, which helps with email attachments, upload limits and web pages.
JPG has no transparency. If your PNG has transparent areas, we fill them with a background colour you choose (white by default) instead of leaving unexpected black or grey patches. If you need to keep transparency, stay with PNG or try WEBP.
You control the quality: 90% is a good default that keeps photos looking clean. Lower values give smaller files but can show blocky artefacts around sharp edges and text.
